Who is Tega Diegbe and what do you do?
I, Tega Diegbe, am just a guy who has found a way to monetise my problem-solving ability.
I work with business owners and entrepreneurs to help them navigate the tools and tech jungle that everyone is trying to sell them as vital to their business, and even the ones that are vital can get really confusing and tedious to use.
I saw in the Facebook group called The Super Cool Dan Ray White Hat SEO and Link Building Group that you created your own course and guide on finding and hiring virtual assistants. Tell us what you know.
I have found that when it comes to hiring and working with Virtual assistants, people come at it with the wrong mindset. Often they want to find someone who can do EVERYTHING that they can do in their business, but pay them pennies on the dollar/Euro/Pound/Yen, which is unrealistic.
I generally tend to preach that even though you can find these “unicorns”, they are not born, they are created with a lot of nurturing, patience & systemisation and if you choose to go down the route of creating your own unicorn, you will fare a lot better if you come at it from the right angle as opposed to otherwise
What advice do you have for people that are needing to systemize their workflow and do a better job of delegating tasks?
For someone who needs to systemize and start delegating, I would tell you what I tell my clients, and what I do myself.
I record myself completing the task or series of tasks and explain WHY I am doing things the way I am doing them. I then hand that recording off to my team member and have them watch the video and complete the same task.
The caveat being they have to record themselves doing it, once I have had their recording I can watch it back to spot where they miss something or where what I said was unclear, I clarify and then ask them to do it again. If no mistake or questions come up, I then have the team member create a step by step doc for what needs to happen before we can consider that task complete.
The documentation then gets inputted as a task template in a project management software, something like Trello or Asana, with the different tasks assigned to someone with a due date to allow for reviews and correction.
Doing it this way, when that task has to be completed, it becomes a case of using the template and you will be sure that the task will be done up to your specification and satisfaction, due to how the task template was created.
The theme of this issue is about Opportunity. What opportunities do you see today that people are not aware of and not taking the time to learn about it?
The biggest missed opportunity I see right now is the fact that people are not taking responsibility for the things they want and the things they want to achieve in life. We live in times where I can set up a business in 48-72 hours because the barrier to entry is so low, but people are not taking advantage because “opportunity” appears in orange overalls and looks too much like hard work.
What projects are you working on and what do you have planned for 2020?
My one big goal for 2020 is to help 150 self-employed entrepreneurs, freelancers, coaches & influencers make the jump to business owners by properly leveraging systems and delegation. I also plan to crack Content Marketing.
